This is the last part of the Konkan coastal route. We did not have to take any ferry for this leg. We completed this leg in two days i.e. from Ganpatipule to Tarkarli and then Tarkarli to Palolem (in Goa).
The best part between Ganpatipule to Tarkarli is the spectacular view of the coast from the Aare Ware road. The ocean view from this stretch is majestic. After this the entire stretch is lush green with lots of Mango farms on both sides of the roads. Tarkarli is about 170 kms from Ganpatipule.

Tarkarli is a beautiful place, as small coastal town with nice clean beaches which offer water sports and dolphin safari.
From Tarkarli we went to the mighty Sindhudurg fort, which is a sea fort and you have to take a boat to reach it. Once there you have about a couple of hours to explore the fort and then you have to return to the boat which takes you back to the boarding point.
The fort was build by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and they say there are his palm prints on one of the rocks in the fort. The fort is an architectural marvel with thick walls to prevent cannon attacks and even a hidden entrance which is visible only when one is very near to the fort. There is a watch tower in the fort which provides a super view of the Arabian sea.
The next day we headed out towards south Goa, to Palolem beach. Palolem is about 170 kms from Tarkarli. This is where we hopped on the NH66 which stayed with us till we reached Kanyakumari. This marked the end of our ride on the Konkan stretch.
